Commercial Privacy Window Film

Privacy film is a category, not one product. Before recommending a film we look at how much the space needs to be hidden, whether it needs privacy by day, by night or both, the lighting on each side of the glass, and the glass itself.

• Frosted window film: The most common privacy film in commercial buildings. It gives glass an etched or sandblasted look that blurs the view while letting light through, and it works day and night because it does not depend on lighting. It comes as full coverage, bands or partial patterns, in densities from light diffusion to nearly opaque.
• Gradient film: Fades from frosted to clear across the glass. Often used on conference room and storefront glass to block the view at seated or standing height while keeping the upper glass open.
• One-way (reflective) privacy film: A mirrored film for daytime privacy. The brighter side sees a reflection and the darker side can see out. On a sunny day, people outside see a mirror while people inside see out. After dark, with lights on inside, it reverses and people outside can see in. If a space needs privacy at night, pair reflective film with blinds or choose frosted film instead.
• Blackout film: Blocks both view and light, for server rooms, storage and other spaces that need full separation. A dark film absorbs sunlight and heats the glass, so we usually apply blackout film to the outside of the glass.
