Questions about this project
Can window film go on the outside of the glass? Yes. Exterior films are made for the outer face of the glass and are used where the inside is hard to reach, as on the north side at AIT Logistics, where we installed Solar Gard Sentinel Plus DX 15.
Is interior or exterior film better? Interior film is the usual choice when the glass can be reached from inside, as on the west side here. Exterior film is chosen when access, the glass or the project calls for it, as on the north side. We check both against the manufacturer’s film to glass guidance.
Can I see the film on my glass before ordering? Yes. At AIT Logistics we installed a mockup on the building’s glass first.
Does window film reduce heat and glare in a lobby? Yes. Solar control film rejects part of the sun’s energy and cuts glare. How much depends on the film, the glass and the direction it faces; we explain the ratings in our window film performance terms guide, and how to choose a film in Can Window Film Fix Hot Spots and Glare?
What else does window film do in a warehouse or plant? Besides office heat and glare, it is used on skylights and clerestory glass, for privacy and for safety. We cover industrial glass in What Can Window Film Do for Manufacturing Plants and Warehouses?
For another heat and glare project, see the Costco Glenview case study, and for exterior film, the PPG exterior window film case study. See our solar control window film service, or request a free assessment.
